You should be able to add one from your profile, I'm still learning the admin control panel so we're having to iron out a few glitches  |

You go to "profile" -> "Modify profile", then under "Personal Information" there should be an avatar section. You can either use a pre-existing avatar or enter the URL of your own. There is also a place to adjust the size of your avatar ~ for example, the image I used is actually the size of a wallpaper, so I had to scale it down a lot.
